Sometimes small business owners try to accomplish tasks without assistance from anyone. Many years of successful practice can lead us into a mindset that we can tackle almost any job without assistance. Sometimes we get deep into the project and find we are overwhelmed with alternatives we cannot properly evaluate, or we have suspicions that there might be a better way to go about the tasks at hand.
I have learned the value of a well-trained staff. Often, I am much more productive using a divide and conquer approach to a project. Staff members enjoy being involved when they can see how their efforts contribute to the success of a process. By myself, I am limited to what I can do in an eight hour day. Collectively we can far exceed the limitations of a sole practitioner.
I can
honestly say I have learned as much from my staff as they have learned from me. Each member is unique in their background and experience. Each member has something to contribute to the success of our firm. We can accomplish much more as a team than I ever could as an individual. I owe a lot to my staff. The staff I have right now is one of the best. To them I say thank you for a job well done.
